British born, Karena began the piano at a very early age and studied classical music. She came to France in the early 80’s and went on to study jazz. In 2017 Karena discovered the idea of using the melodica as a mix between singing and piano. "I frequently get asked questions about my melodica and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for this great instrument. I was one of the first in Europe to play this new wooden Suzuki W37, which I find has a warmer sound, more appropriate for the jazz repertoire. I love the wooden feel, it’s a really beautiful instrument".

Karena is currently working and performing across Europe with Patrice Galas, Marc Michel Le Bevillion and François Laizeau.
