Tone and changes created by the wooden cover plates
Due to the weight and hardness of the wooden cover material, as well as the space created in the wood, it is characterized by a mellow tone with treble components suppressed. You will be able to feel the uniqueness of the tone, especially when you play long tone or when making percussive expressions. Over time the color of the wooden cover plates may change or become slightly more glossy, making it quite unique, with a personality if it’s own! Another charming point of the wooden cover plates model is the tone changes over time, or in other words, the instrument grows with you.
Reeds and tuning
The same reed plates and tuning as the classic M-20 are adopted for the M-20W. It features a powerful and deep sound with a wide dynamic range and tuning that emphasizes the resonance of chords, which is useful in playing blues and rock with many vamps.
The M-20W is recommended for those looking for a more mellow tone
The M-20W features a mellow tone with wooden cover plates that suppresses treble components. Recommended for playing more melodic songs, ballads, slower songs, or when there is a vocalist.
The classic Manji M-20 is recommended for those looking for a more aggressive tone
With its dynamic and aggressive tone, the M-20 is recommended for heavy blues and rock, where you want to achieve more of a cutting edge. It makes its presence felt in songs where you want to give a powerful performance.
Material similar to wood
The M-20W has the same body as the classic Manji M-20, made of resin mixed with fibers extracted from trees, achieving both the wood tone and the durability of plastic. The solid body reinforced with wood fibers produces a warm sound that is different from the tone created by a standard plastic body.
The solid body strengthened by the wood fiber carries sound vibration from harmonica reeds more effectively without loss, compared to the body made of plastic. Besides, you will never worry about distortion by moisture; traditionally a common problem with wooden body harmonicas.
Reproduce the classic Manji M-20 style with wooden cover plates
The cover of the classic MANJI M-20 is made of metal, but the wooden cover plates of the M-20W also reproduces a good feel to the lips and hands. However, the material of the cover plates and the internal shape of the M-20W and M-20 are very different and as a result, the tone also differs greatly. You may also enjoy playing two models that have similar playability and feel, but different tones.
